P22 Marcel Script Pro
FontLab
Published 2014
Distributed via P22 Font Foundry
This project was started in 2002, and was worked on evenings and weekends (on and off) for 12 years. It was released by P22 in 2014. The font P22 Marcel Script is named in honor of Marcel Heuzé, a Frenchman conscripted into labor during World War II. During the months Marcel was in Germany, he wrote letters to his beloved wife and daughters back home in France. Marcel’s letters contain both beautiful expressions of love and extraordinary testimony of survival within a labor camp. The goal was to create a font that retained the expressive character of Marcel’s original handwriting.
