Octagon
Zine series: digital and risograph printing, bingo dauber ink
5.5″ x 8.5″
Ongoing Project (2012-2014)

Octagon zines are visual narratives that explore memory and myth in a hyperreal culture. Playful and at times abstract, each zine engages readers in a semiotic exchange where meaning is negotiated between artist and reader. There are currently nine issues in the series. Topics include: a graphic reconstruction of the artist’s grandmother through the use of her Bible (Issue #1), a series of space diagrams illustrated through macro photos of junk food (#2), an examination of a psychological phenomenon called supernormal stimulus (#4), a trip to Dollywood (#9), and a memorial to an outsider artist’s home in Chicago (#5).
